Giriraj Singh’s Post with ‘I Love Muhammad’ and ‘जय सनातन, जय महादेव’ Sparks Debate

The political atmosphere in Bihar ahead of the 2025 Assembly elections has taken a new turn after Union Minister and BJP leader Giriraj Singh shared a post on social media saying “I Love Muhammad” with the caption “जय सनातन, जय महादेव.”

Political Reactions

The post quickly drew strong reactions. Opposition leaders, especially from the RJD, claimed that the BJP is shifting tactics to attract Muslim voters in regions like Seemanchal. RJD’s Abdul Jabbar said that leaders who once pushed Hindutva politics are now trying to woo Muslims out of fear of losing ground in Bihar.

Remark on Rahul & Tejashwi

During a media interaction in Begusarai, Giriraj Singh spoke about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. He referred to them as “nepo kids” and expressed concern that Rahul Gandhi’s approach could create tensions in the country. Singh further said that, in his view, Rahul and Tejashwi have been contributing to political unrest since the period of turmoil in Nepal.

Protests and Security Measures

The impact was felt beyond Bihar. Protests broke out in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly and Barabanki districts, leading to clashes, arrests, and FIRs. Authorities imposed temporary internet bans and deployed additional police forces to maintain law and order.

Giriraj Singh defended himself, saying the controversy was politically motivated and blaming the opposition for deliberately provoking unrest.

Strategy and Analysis

Political observers suggest the post may be part of a larger election strategy. In Bihar, where caste and religion strongly influence voter behaviour, such messaging could be aimed at reshaping the BJP’s image and broadening its appeal. However, critics argue that the move risks creating further polarization.

Giriraj Singh’s post combining “I Love Muhammad” with “जय सनातन, जय महादेव” has stirred a major debate in Bihar’s political circles. Along with his sharp remarks on Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, the controversy has raised questions on religious sentiments, electoral strategies, and the role of social media in shaping voter perceptions. With the Bihar elections approaching, its real impact on the Muslim vote bank and the wider electorate remains to be seen.
