Bengaluru, September 23, 2025 – A horrific crime shocked Bengaluru on Monday when a 43-year-old man stabbed his wife 11 times in front of her daughter at a crowded bus stop, before surrendering to the police the next day.
The accused, identified as Lohitashwa alias Lokesh, a cab driver from Tumakuru district, attacked his wife Rekha near Sunkadakatte bus stand in West Bengaluru. The attack, carried out in full public view, left bystanders horrified as the victim’s 12-year-old daughter watched helplessly.
Domestic Dispute Turns Deadly
Police reports indicate that Lokesh and Rekha had frequent arguments over her elder daughter from a previous marriage. Lokesh allegedly demanded that the child be sent away, which Rekha refused. He also grew suspicious of her work life, suspecting affairs with colleagues – claims investigators say remain unproven.
The couple, who had been in a relationship for over a year before marrying recently, had another heated quarrel on the day of the incident. After Rekha left home with her daughter, Lokesh followed her and launched the fatal attack. Witnesses tried to stop him, but Lokesh threatened onlookers before discarding the knife and fleeing.
Police Action
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) S. Girish confirmed that Lokesh surrendered himself on Tuesday. He has been charged under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act.
Investigation Continues
Authorities are probing further details of the case while extending counseling support to Rekha’s daughters. The brutal murder has once again raised concerns about domestic violence, women’s safety, and public security in Indian cities.
