Jemimah Rodrigues, Smriti Mandhana Celebrate India’s First Women’s World Cup Win

It was a proud day for Indian cricket as the Indian women’s team won the ICC Women’s World Cup for the first time in history. Under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur, India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final match held at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

After the big win, Jemimah Rodrigues shared a happy photo on social media with Smriti Mandhana, both posing with the World Cup trophy in their hotel room. Her caption said, “Good morning world.”

In another picture, Jemimah was seen with Smriti, Radha Yadav, and Arundhati Reddy, smiling proudly beside the trophy. She wrote, “Are we still dreaming?” — showing how special this win felt for the team.

Team Effort Behind India’s Big Win

In the final match, Smriti Mandhana scored 45 runs and built a strong 104-run opening partnership with Shafali Verma, who made 87 runs. Their solid start helped India reach a big total of 299 runs.

Later, Deepti Sharma was the star with the ball. She took five wickets for 39 runs, helping India bowl out South Africa for 246. This brilliant performance gave India their first-ever Women’s ODI World Cup title. With this victory, India became only the fourth country in the world to win this championship.

Every World Cup before this was full of heartbreaks. But we never gave up. We worked hard to become fitter and stronger. The support from fans was amazing. Winning this World Cup means everything to us.

She also added,

The best part of this team is how much we support each other. Everyone was positive and happy for each other. That’s what made us strong.
